Antique Victorian silver brooch featuring an oval moss agate stone. The brooch has an open back setting allowing the light pass through the stone. The piece secures with an open 'c' clasp.
Agate is a type of chalcedony, it grows in voids of rock masses such as lava, building up over millions of years. Moss agate is even finer caused by manganese and chloride (shades of mossy green) and when polished the clusters appear suspended within the iridescent jewel. Agate has a naturalistic appearance.
