Product Details

Our stunning 1912 gemstone ring features a large pink oval ruby with four round 0.15ct diamonds either side. The diamonds are accompanied by two bright red-pink garnets.

The ring is set in 18ct yellow gold as indicated by the hallmarks, the piece was marked in 1912 in Birmingham, England. This ring dates back to 1912 at the beginning of the first world war when George V was on the British throne.

Ruby is the birthstone for July, it is the colour of love, anger, passion and fury. It was believed those who wore rubies were bestowed with good fortune, throughout history rubies were worn by emperors and kings. Still to this day we value the gemstone just as highly. The ruby is considered one of the four most precious gemstones in the world alongside Sapphire, Emerald and Diamond.

Garnets were used extensively in all different designs of Victorian / Edwardian jewellery, bracelets, rings, brooches and elaborate necklaces, they represent the birthstone of January.
